About the Association of American University Presses

University presses publish books, journals, and electronic media on the cutting edge of knowledge and research, and in so doing they serve society at large by broadening our shared understanding of history, science, literature, society, art, and culture. The Association of American University Presses (AAUP) was established in 1937 to help these presses do their work more creatively, economically, and efficiently.

AAUP works towards these goals through cooperative programs, professional development opportunities, industry research and analysis, and representing the interests of members to the public, other organizations, and government agencies. AAUP also provides a framework for collaboration among its 125 nonprofit scholarly press members.
