Materials for Participating ARL & AAUP MembersHere you will find materials and tools to assist in creating events and programs throughout 2004, the Year of the University Press. An important resource is through the top link at the left: a list of ideas for how ARL and AAUP members can participate. As part of the Year, we hope that libraries will consider dedicating an exhibit case to celebrating the work of university presses. A number of suggestions for exhibit themes are listed here as well. ARL and AAUP have developed a logoas you can see at the top of the pageto mark this campaign, as well as future joint projects. The tagline for our partnership is "Promoting effective scholarly communications." We encourage all members to use this logo and phrase to mark Year of the University Press activities, library/press collaborative projects, and to display it as a mark of support on media such as web sites, catalogs, and newsletters. The "ARL/AAUP Wire" will provide pre-written articles that libraries and presses can reprint in Friends newsletters or other publications. You should feel free to adapt or customize many of these articles to include information about your institution, or to reprint as is. These articles will cover a variety of topics, from issues of interest to both libraries and presses to features on collaborative projects and university press strengths. Most importantly, AAUP and ARL are committed to promoting the activities of our members through this campaign web site. Please let us know what you have plannedor is already happeningat your institution. Tell us what's happening. There is also a PR Tool Kit, with tips and templates for maximizing publicity of Year of the University Press events and projects. |
