Books for Understanding also provides an array of resources for journalists and news producers:

Press Releases are available on all Books for Understanding lists and service enhancements.

Expert Directories are available with many of the bibliography topics. These Directories provide brief biographies and contact information for authors and editors with expertise in the relevant subject. They can provide knowledgeable commentary on the news of the day.

The Expert Directories are linked to at the top of each book list, and authors with directory entries are indicated within the book lists, either through a hyperlink of their name, or in newer lists, by this symbol:

An example of an Expert Directory is the companion to the bibliography Books for Understanding: Hurricane Katrina.
