Grant Recipients: The Questia Grant gives staff from small member presses funds to attend the annual meeting. The Whiting Diversity Grant is funded by the Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation and AAUP. Grants are awarded to eligible minority staff at member presses. The Richard Eckersley Memorial Grant supports the professional development of an emerging university press designer by covering the annual meeting registration fee. Questia generously provided funds to award three grants for qualified applicants from small and mid-size presses to attend the 2007 AAUP Annual Meeting. Grantees will receive $1,500 toward registration and travel expenses. Applications were reviewed by a subcommittee of the AAUP board of directors. The deadline to apply was April 18. Recipients of the 2007 Questia Grant: Karen Medlin, Texas Tech University Press; Elizabeth Pilon, Wayne State University Press; Ann Wendland, University Press of Colorado The Professional Development Committee of the AAUP made funds from the Mrs. Giles Whiting Foundation AAUP professional development grant available to support the attendance at the 2007 annual meeting of eligible minority staff of member presses. AAUP is committed to promoting and supporting a diverse work force in scholarly communications. Grantees will receive waived annual meeting registration fees and will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for travel expenses. Applications were reviewed by a subcommittee of the AAUP board of directors. Eckersley, one of the most widely admired book designers of recent history, was also committed to the encouragement and professional development of new designers in the field.
