University Press Books Selected for
Public and Secondary School Libraries
The Best of the Best from the University Presses
2009 American Library Association Annual Conference
Chicago, IL
July 12, 2009
The "Best of the Best" program is presented annually at the ALA Conference. University presses represent an often-undiscovered gold mine of resources for school and public libraries. Public and secondary school librarians who served on the 2008-09 selection committees will introduce recent titles they have found to be “the best” for a variety of reasons. Copies of the books presented will be raffled to program attendees.
The program was taped by C-SPAN2 for BookTV and aired on July 26. If you missed it, it is available for online viewing here.
These recommendations and more can be found in the 19th Edition of the University Press Books Selected for Public and Secondary School Libraries, an annual collection development tool published by AAUP.
Titles were selected and will be presented by the following members of the 2009 University Press Books Committee:
Hilary Albert, Reference Librarian, Mahopac Public Library, Mahopac, NY
Nann Blaine Hilyard, Director, Zion-Benton Public Library, Zion, IL
Terri Lent, Library Media Specialist, Patrick Henry High School, Ashland, VA
Dr. Janice Krueger, Professor of Library Science, Clarion University, Clarion, PA
Dr. Judith Repman, Professor of Instructional Technology, Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA
